All hail the Buffalo!

  • Public screenings of the Da Vinci code have been banned.
  • SO WHAT eh? There is always the dvd... [snigger, snigger]
  • Does it take a book or a movie to crack one's religious faith?
  • How come most of Asia is screening it...even India is.
  • "We don't easily get bothered with a book or a movie, because for sure our faith is much, much deeper than that, and we realize if we really follow the teachings of Christ, we should be relaxed." - Pedro Quitorio - Spokesperson, Catholic Bishop's Conference of the Philippines
  • "It matters greatly to us as it adversely affects the most sacred beliefs of our people when it levels the charge that the Catholic Church is essentially a vast network founded on maintaining the lie of Jesus' Divinity." - Catholic Bishops Conference, Sri Lanka
  • Whatever happened to creating a climate of freedom for artistic creativity?

Buffalo see, buffalo do.

Not half as bad as turning theclock forward and a week later advertising in the newspapers asking for suggestions on reducing power consumption!

Nowhere as bad as trying to promote rice flour consumption through seminars to tea estate workers in order to help local farmers. (Hint: rice flour costs 30-35 a kg, wheat flour is some 24 a kg)

so true. it's disheartening that these so called staunch christians are the ones throwing the biggest fit about the dan brown phenomenon. how fickle their 'unshakable' faith has proven to be.

I feel impotent at being able to ban author of no great worth while i remain in the pockets of those I really need to ban and that includes the religious zelouts who dominate my policy making decisions - Maybe that penis enlargement suggestion wasn't so silly after all must consider......

Well at least now no one will be able to scream and whine about how the government allegedly doesn't listen to any minority community. Christian fundamentalists won't be able to complain about the "oppression" of Christians in Sri Lanka because as can be seen all that Christians have to do is voice their concern and then poof! the government does what they want.

The Free Media Movement that foams at the mouth at insignicant issues will be silent about this.

^ True.

Right wing Christianity is alive and well in Sri Lanka.

Ridiculous. Much worse stuff that the Da Vici code is found in the Bible itself. The Christian God kills and murders people, sends famines, curses entire peoples and demands blood sacrifices. The Da Vinci code is lame in comparison.

well honestly it is ridiculing religion and makes people question their faith , and that was why opus dei challenged the publishing company in court, in a day and age where people have grown wiser & bolder , do u think questioning religion is far from happening ? true its fiction but dan brown being the crafty fox he is has included many historical and popular landmarks and organizations , his intention may obviously be to create a realistic setting to his story ...end of the day its just that a farce , but has it not raised even an iota of doubt in your mind ?
